On December 14th we launched a new version of the connected album for Tank’s record “Now or Never”. Our goal is to reward fans who purchased the album, regardless of format or purchasing mechanism. Fans who register are given access to a special section of the Tank’s website, exclusive content and a badge to show off to other members of the community.

Fans who buy the album will see the screen below after inserting the disc into their computer, or by launching an application bundled with the MP3 download of the album from Tank’s website. Fans who have purchased from iTunes or another online store can head to the Team Tank login page to gain access.

Last week we quietly relaunched the Elektra website, our first label website built on Cisco’s EOS platform. The site relaunch is in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of the label and was a massive content undertaking for the digital marketing and content teams. Artists from the label’s entire run (over 100 in all) are featured on the site and in the Elektra 60th timeline, a visual history of the label designed and built by our friends at Rokkan.

This may have been up for a while, but it’s new to me. We’ve been working closely with Adobe for a few years on their multi-screen initiatives and are now officially a member of the Open Screen Project. Were listed among some pretty impressive partners and are glad to be part of the project.

In addition to this, we are part of a concept video on the OSP homepage. The first video in the carousel titled “Fun with Friends” includes a conceptual mockup of what our AIR Application Fanbase could look like in the future. It’s just a concept at this point, but is fun to see. The folks at Adobe did an amazing job putting this together.

Check it out.

Gordon is a open source Javascript based Flash Player written by Tobey Tailor that allows users to playback Flash content without having the plugin. It currently only supports Flash 1 & 2 so Actionscript users are out of luck. Right now browser support is pretty limited but it’s an interesting project worth keeping your eyes on if you are hoping to playback Flash animations on platforms (Apple) that don’t support the plugin.

Yesterday I spoke on a panel at SXSW titled The Future of Online Music Videos with Nick Stahl from Brightcove, Alexander Kisch from VEVO, John Sasso from SONY Music Entertainment, Inc and William Wilson from NARM. We discussed different delivery points for video online, from band’s direct to fan sites to large destinations like YouTube and Vevo, and how the right blend of these options can help build a band’s brand and drive revenue.

There is a new article on Adobe.com talking about the success of the Connected Car project by Alcatel-Lucent and QNX software. The article focuses on the development platform QNX has created for automobiles using Flash Lite, and mentions the success Atlantic had porting our Fanbase application to the platform. There is also a short quote by yours truly. A great project to be a part of and continued success to QNX.

Today Brightcove announced the availability of their platform on smartphones powered by Adobe’s upcoming Flash Player 10.1 for mobile devices. With some help from our video and studio team we were able to update Kidrock.com and Shinedown.com to work with the new player, as well as creating a mobile version of our studio website Studio1290 using Brightcove’s new mobile video player. While the technology is still in beta, we at Atlantic are really excited about the possibilities of this new distribution method.

Today Alcatel-Lucent and QNX announced the 4G connected car prototype in New York. As part of the NG Connect program (an ecosystem built around 4G connectivity) Atlantic Records was proud to create a version of our award winning Fanbase platform for the music fan on the road. The car contains 4 internet connected screens allowing for an in car music experience like never before.

Check out a (shaky) video of an early version of Fanbase running in the car.

NG Connect also launched a micro site with detailed information on the program and the prototype.

The press buzz surrounding the launch was great, with some standout coverage from Wired, Mashable and Reuters.
