I was interviewed a few months ago by Adobe for an article titled “From black box to contextual applications” which ran in this month in Adobe’s Edge newsletter and on the Adobe.com site. The goal of a contextual application is to provide a unified experience across multiple devices, while leveraging the unique capabilities and qualities of each. The article discusses the key tennants of contextual apps, Atlantic Record’s Fanbase applications as well as the Open Screen Project which Atlantic officially joined last week.

As part of the launch Rob Thomas is showcasing the app during the Billboard Music Keynote at CTIA and he was interviewed about the app by CNBC.

WE were also lucky enough to get picked up by a few dozen blogs. Here are a few highlights.
WMG one of Fast Company’s top 50 most innovative companies
Thursday, February 12th, 2009It’s a huge honor to be a part of a company that ends up on this list. I think there are times where the music industry gets a bad rap on the innovation side, but there are a lot of people here who work really hard to change that impression. I’m sure the haters will be yelling about this all over the blogosphere tomorrow, but tonight it feels great see WMG on this list.
Atlantic Records hits milestone on digital music sales
Tuesday, November 25th, 2008Today in the International Herald Tribune (the global version of the New York Times) is an article about how Atlantic has hit the 50/50 mark for physical and digital sales, a landmark that analysts didn’t excpect the music industry to reach before 2011.
“Atlantic, a unit of Warner Music Group, says it has reached a milestone that no other major record label has hit: More than half of its music sales in the United States are now from digital products, like downloads on iTunes and ring tones for cellphones.”
Atlantic Records Businessweek video
Friday, September 12th, 2008There was an article published in Businessweek today about how record companies are adapting to meet the new challenges we are facing, and how MySpace music is part of that strategy. In the video at the top of the screen it shows the lab at Atlantic Records where most of our new media work is done. I make a brief cameo but a few of my co-workers are featured prominently.
Herald Whig
Thursday, August 28th, 2008My hometown newspaper, the Quincy Herald Whig, wrote an article about me around the idea of people making a career out of being creative and doing something they love. The people in the art and music communities back home were a huge influence on me, so I was very happy to be able to talk about my experiences in a way that might inspire other young people back home to choose a slightly less traditional career path.
Fanbase Print Press
Saturday, August 2nd, 2008Our new AIR application, Fanbase Desktop has been getting some really solid press online for a while now, but I wanted to highlight a few offline mentions that have been popping up lately.
I was interviewed for Billboard Magazine about the app.

Adobe put out a promotional print piece about Rich Internet Applications and we were one of the featured applications.

And right after the application launched I saw the Reuters article displayed in the cab on my way home from the airport. I thought it was hilarious and snapped a picture with my iPhone.
