Two mentions for Fanbase came out in the wake of our launch of the Avatar Soundtrack Fanbase. We worked alongside Fox to launch both Fanbase Social and Fanbase Desktop for Avatar.

Arguably the biggest announcement from Adobe’s MAX conference last week was the (future) ability to create iPhone applications using Flash CS5. There were several sessions that materialized shortly after the announcement, but this session by Arno Gourdol was by far the most useful and practical. Check out the video below.
Today Atlantic Records and Fanbase received amazing mentions in Billboard and Wired Magazines.
Rob Thomas was named one of Billboard’s Top 10 Wireless artists today in an article that highlights his early adoption of the Fanbase platform. They discuss his use of Fanbase Desktop, Fanbase Mobile for Flash Lite, and Fanbase for the iPhone as well as his continued use Twitter to communicate directly with his fans. Calling him “The Trailblazer” underscores both his willingness to embrace new technology, and the forward thinking nature of Atlantic Records.
In an interview with Livia Tortella (GM/EVP of Atlantic) Wired Magazine highlights our use of Cisco’s EOS platform to bring artist specific communities to music fans alongside a small mention of Fanbase.
Today Atlantic Records launched two important strategic projects for one of our most popular solo artists, Rob Thomas. Fanbase Mobile (for the iPhone) is a framework we have created, in conjunction with amazing development team at Gskinner.com, that is going to allow us to roll out flexible, scalable iPhone applications for all Atlantic artists.

In addition to this exciting mobile launch we also shipped our first Fanbase Connected Album. Fans who purchase Rob Thomas’ new album will be prompted to install his Fanbase Desktop application directly from the CD and will be delivered bonus content specific to purchasers of Rob’s album. This year at NARM (the National Association of Recording Merchandisers) awarded Fanbase Desktop a 2009 Outstanding Achievement – Business Innovation Award. The app has been well received by fans, but it’s always great to get recognized by the industry. Other winners this year were Sony, Topspin and iTunes so we are among great company! *Updated with video of Mike Jbara accepting the award.
